Data We Collect

We collect account information (name, email, and account password) when you register or sign in on mecrawl.com. Passwords are transmitted over HTTPS and stored only as one-way hashes on our servers — we never store plaintext passwords. We also collect usage data and payment information processed by our payment provider. We do not store full credit card numbers. API tokens / login keys you create are used for authenticated API and extension access.

Chrome extension

The MeCrawl browser extension authenticates with an API token (login key) only — it does not collect, transmit, or store your account password. The token and account email are stored locally in chrome.storage.local on your device for session continuity and are sent to mecrawl.com over HTTPS to verify the session and sync places you choose to save. The extension reads public listing fields from Google Maps™ pages you open with the extension, and may sync collected places to your MeCrawl account when you are signed in. Optional website contact enrichment (emails/social links from a business’s own public website) runs only after you grant an extra host permission. We do not sell your browsing history or share extension auth data with third parties for advertising.

How We Use Data

We use your data to provide the service (including account authentication, extension/API access, place sync, and exports), process payments, send account notifications, and improve the platform. Account passwords are used only to authenticate website logins. API tokens are used only to authorize API and extension requests. We do not sell personal information.

Business Data

Business records exported through MeCrawl come from publicly available map listings and related public websites. Google Maps is a trademark of Google LLC. We aim to comply with GDPR and CCPA requirements for data processing of account holders and public business information.

Subprocessors

We use infrastructure and service providers (for example hosting, email delivery, and payment processing) to operate MeCrawl. Subprocessors process data only to provide those services. Contact mecrawl.com@gmail.com for a current high-level list.

Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, security, and billing purposes. You may request deletion subject to legal retention obligations.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Analytics cookies, if used, are optional and can typically be limited via browser settings.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact mecrawl.com@gmail.com to exercise these rights.

International transfers

Data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal data.
